When putting two sheets or tarp flaps together for hanging, you'll need decent grommets. What you don't need are smashed fingers. You risk the finger damage because the included assembly kit items are too small for the job. The Stanley Bostitch Grommet Kit has OK grommets, but the assembly items are cheap and poor quality. The kit is made in China. China makes some nice things, but in the non-computer hardware world, quality and design are often problematic. The flaring tool and base are so nea...
Bostitch .50-in Metal Grommet Kit
This grommet kit really is great. It has everything any DIYer needs. I had to attach a set of curtain rods / used as extension rods to tall drapes that are in our master bathroom. The curtains sit behind a claw foot tub. I am 6'1" and can reach them to close them fairly easy. My wife on the other hand is only 5'4" tall, and couldn't reach them behind the tub without applying a ton of down pressure on them. So used this Bostitch .50-in Metal Grommet Kit, to make a strong attachment point to the D...
Best kit out there
I've used a lot of grommet kits. This one is the best I've tried. Those complaining about pinched fingers should try holding the top piece with a vise grips. No more pinches. Hole cutter is pretty darn good, but thicker things have to be smacked pretty hard. There are hollow hole punches that might do a better job, but this one gets it done. Pick the hole piece out of the punch before reusing each time. If little edges don't curl precisely, or are sharp, smack it with the hammer again after inst...
Brass Grommets
I used these grommets on canvas cloth and found that they dug in to the material when I used the fastening device. I was able to overcome this by placing a piece of rubber (from an old bike tire) between the fabric and the brass grommets on both sides before attaching them. Once I did this, the grommets stopped causing the fabric to tear. My only real issue with this item was that I could not buy additional grommets and instead had to buy a whole kit. The website does list additional grommets, ...
Easy to use
This grommet kit did the job. Easy to install the grommets. You do need a rubber mallet to punch the holes and flare the grommet. Really need to use force when flaring the grommet. I'm a little sore; however, I did install 45 in one session... The only con is that EVERY kit/package came with the tools included. I bought multiple kits and only needed one set of tools. Very glad to find this kit. Very pleased I ended up being able to do it myself.
Kit is Complete to Add Grommets to Fabric
Bought this to add grommets to the bottom of a flag banner for Memorial Day for display vertically on my front porch. Simply state, everything you need is in the kit, and it worked flawlessly.
We saved the cost of replacing our flag!
Got caught in a quick, violent wind storm, and the bottom of our flag came loose, and whipped around and tore the grommet - Since this flag is not as easily replaced as a standard US flag, and not under the same regulations of display, we were able to re-grommet the edge, and it is flying high today!
Good Deal for the Price
The tool works well. I only find one fault with it. It is too short or too shallow. It is hard to hold it in proper alignment and hit it with a mallet at the same time. Other than that, I needed one, they had this one and it worked for me. I used one grommet to practice with, then i used it 3 more times to do my little project.
Sun Protection
I bought these grommets and fastened them to some solar screen. Then I attached the screen to my chain link fence . It worked great, and now I have a little more protection from the suns rays. These grommets are strong and easy to apply.
Installs easily
These were easily installed into 2-4 layers of Sunforger fabric for an awning. The hole punch was nice and sharp. Time will tell as to their durability but they look great.
