Replaced an old (30 year) Dewalt plunge router that had broke unexpectedly. Picked up this Bosch off the shelf. Milled 1200’ of custom trim over a couple days and it performed really well. Strong variable speed. Did not care for the height adjustment on the plunge base as my old Dewalt had a firm locking lever, however I did not experience any issues with the Bosch adjuster. Turned out to be a good choice and it was $100 savings over what the replacement Dewalt would have cost.
Absolutely my favorite router in the shop
I have three of these in my shop. #1 in a table with prolift from Rockler. #2 in a jig for dados and grooves. #3 in the plunge base for freehand use. the two extra fixed bases are in jig platforms that are used often but not as much as #2. the extra plunge base is used primarily for juice grooves, it is configured to stop tipping when running on the jig. All in all these are long time users and made to last the test of time. I do not use ¼" bits in these, I'm a little heavy handed and bre...

for the money there's better options
I've had this combo set for about a year and a half. had some heavy use and then started having problems with the height adjustment. a common issue - the e-clip that allows the adjustment will fail on you. up until that point it's a great router. not so much afterwards. and i highly doubt they've addressed this problem so do yourself a favor and get the skil combo instead. it's about the same price and extra horsepower.
Pretty Good, but...
Bought this a while ago, but only used the plunge base until now, and... the fixed base baseplate--resting on my jointer table in the photo--is so proud that I can't use it. That being said, the router itself has been a champ. Quiet (for a router), didn't strain or heat-up taking 1/8 x 1 in. passes in oak, etc. Just frustrated by the base plate!
High quality and good value.
My initial experience with this router is very positive. The case is well designed. I'm pleased with the power of the router. I've only used the plunge router base and simply explored the fixed base. I do like the plunge base and think I'll be pleased with the fixed base. I love the soft start. I wish there was a place to hook-up my dust extractor hose. There may be an accessory for this, I have not looked into it.
It beats the harbor freight one hands down.
As with every plunge router I've tried, it's a little sticky on the plunge. I figure it'll get easier as i get used to using it. Also it's inconvenient to have to engage the plunge release every time. I'd rather be able to lock it open. All in all, it is a nice router and does the job.
