Good, lighter weight upgrade

I have quite a few Bosch tools, including a router and jigsaw. My 10-year old Bosch drill still worked well, but the batteries weren't holding a charge, so I purchased the DDB181-02 as a replacement. My old drill had seen a lot of use and though it was heavy by comparison, it was comfortable in my hand and using it was second nature. Good while it lasted, but...

I bought this tool several years ago (not sure exactly when) and it was great while it lasted. Then in the past couple of days it started to smoke out of the rear vents, also showing something incandescent in there when I checked it out after hearing this from my lady. Near as I can tell something has failed inside of the motor. I see in the posted reviews that 3-4 other people have listed a similar experience. Alligator Proof!

I have a weekend log cabin on a lake in East Texas. Alligators are common, but usually keep their distance. I had a puppy with me as I used the drill to put up some fencing. Motor Burnt Out Under Light Use

Bought my DDB181-02 cordless drill around June 2017, and only used it for light DIY jobs around the house. No heavy/excessive construction usage. I had to buy a new. Right in the middle of a job my older Bosch drill stopped working,thinking it was the battery I swapped the battery,it wasn't the battery. loved it first, until it started being wonky

Owned the drill a little over a year, and really happy with the power/torque it delivers. The batteries last a really long time as well, and the extra notch to leave the battery connected to drill, but not making contact to avoid slowly draining battery is really nice feature. Overall, its a nice design, weighted perfect feels sturdy. After about 3 months though, the trigger started not working - only for fractions of sec, but there was a noticeable delay.
