Functional and lightweight

I’ve owned this Workmate model for a while now and still use it regularly on jobsites as a sawhorse and a vise. Over time the foldout legs still work but 3 of the four legs fold but won’t snap back into the stored position since the plastic clips have broke off. I still would recommend this as a portable work surface and vise. It has lasted longer than I expected.

Bought a returned item

Ordered on line, delivered to store in box that obviously had been opened with no attempt to close back up. The box was essentially destroyed, not stapled together, came apart with minimal lifting. I took the item out of the destroyed box which I left at the store. Had to hammer one of the leg supports to straighten it and allow the leg to lock in place.

Workmate is a Workhorse!

I have had the previous Workmate 200 for 30 years, and love it. It has continues to be my Go To. It is a great portable work bench. This new Workmate 225 is a great addition with some improvements. It is the same height as the 200. The new 3 position rear board allows for clamping wider boards (9" vs 5") than on the older model. The new 225 is about 5 pounds lighter than the old one, but seems every bit as durable, and the boards are durable bamboo vs the older model's MDF boards. All in...

Defected Product

There 4 bolt screws are missing. The instruction shows 4 bolt screws, but actually 8 bolt screws are required.

Always liked B&D products

Once put together, I liked the item. Instructions are not clear and can be very confusing. It is a lot lighter than i thought it would be. But it works well for what i need it for and it holds more weight than I expected. Very happy with the purchase.

Buy something else

The rear part of the bench is now fixed, whereas previously it was the front part. The method of fixing leaves a lot to be desired and will not last long. I'm working on a modification that will hopefully prevent me from taking my workbench to the dump next year.

Not what I expected

The instructions were horrid; I had to watch multiple YouTube videos to get it put together. I thought the two wood plates on top would come completely together but they don’t. Cheaply made…if I had to do it over again I’d spend a little more for better quality

Flimsier these days

Much flimsier than older versions (15yrs). They removed the front crossbar between the vise handles, so the top wobbles and racks. Granted, that bar sometimes got in my way, but I'd rather a stable work surface. Also, the stamped steel frame is thinner and has sharp edges now, feels cheap. The concept is still good, and it's better than nothing if you don't have a bench vise, especially for $100, but I wish we could still buy a sturdy one at a higher price point.
