Altman Plants Swordfish Aloe Succulent in 6-in Pot

Staring may not be considered polite in most cases but it’s unavoidable when setting eyes upon this extraordinary hybrid aloe. Aloe 'Swordfish' PP32,010 is its breeder's stunning twist on a terrific aloe from Madagascar, Aloe divaricata. Aloe 'Swordfish' resembles in form a mighty sea-dwelling creature — sea serpent, even — awash in rich lavender, blue, purple, and burgundy in bright light. Its elegant, enchanting, open star-shaped form of long, arching leaves is embellished by touch-friendly burgundy red teeth. Aloe 'Swordfish' periodically sends up a branched flower stalk of tubular red blooms, enticing hungry hummingbirds. It may do this multiple times a year, particularly when the weather is suitably warm and it receives adequate water. Apart from color and form, Aloe 'Swordfish' stands out from many other hybrid aloes simply by virtue of its size. With room, it can grow up to 2 feet tall and wide. The flower stalk on a larger specimen can easily exceed 12 inches.
