The wheel that drives the spreader plate is attached via a cotter pin that bends whenever placed under any load. I've gone through 6 cotter pins and even had the company replace the gear zone too but the cotter pins keep breaking. The problem with the wheel is that it is larger than the axle and therefore is supported by a bearing/insert that downsizes the hole on each end of the wheel. Perfect for my small farm
I bought this after my Agri-Fab 130lbs spreader finally wore completely out after about 10 years of use. Even then it was mainly just that the tires had shredded so I felt it was time to upgrade. My usage is on a 3 acre pasture to spread seed twice a year and fertilizer 3 times a year. The key to keeping these things alive is to spray them down with water after spreading fertilizer because that stuff will eat up the metal, and store it out of the elements. Closure plate would not completely close.
Received this spreader as a Father’s Day gift. Slots on flow control mount bracket would not allow adjusting the spreader closure plate to close. Had to elongate the slots and drill an additional hole in mounting tube to get the closure plate to close properly.

The Agri-Fab spreader I purchased is great. Hooks right onto my tractor and away we go. Love the handle on it which makes it easy to change settings while im driving the tractor. Great price too!

great spreader
I highly recommend this spreader! very easy to assemble and so far seems very well built. Definitely an upgrade if you have a larger lawn tractor like I do (john deere x758) makes using the control lever alot easier. the gear being steel and not plastic it's a plus. My previous spreader has a plastic gear box and lasted about 2 years before wearing completely out.
