This is a good atmospheric water heater, but changing a couple of things could have made it even better. First: This has a nylon drain value on it. This is a $1100 water heater, put a brass drain value on it. Using a nylon valve conveys that this is a base model. I hope that the nylon valve holds up as I do drain our water heaters intermittently to get some of the sediment out of them. Second: This water heater has a pilot light. Flammable gas sensor
I don't think there is a description that this water heater comes with a flammable gas sensor. At startup, there was an error message that the gas sensor was activating, which prevents the burner from coming on. It wasn't. There is a way to reset the water heater to make this error message go away and successfully start up the burner, but the manufacturer doesn't want to provide that info unless you call one of their technical specialists. DO NOT BUY
Brand new Signature 300 doesn't work right out of the box. Day 5 of cold showers. Been going back and forth with tech support for days. They had to ship new gas valve, burner & igniter to replace brand new components. What a nightmare.

Doesn't work, right out of the box
Day three with cold showers. Brand new Signature 300 water heater from Lowes. Pilot would not stay lit. Went back & forth with tech support for hours. Finally determined the problem is a defective igniter assembly. Going to be another day before part arrives. Buy a different brand. My GE lasted 17 years.
