Absolutely terrible
I'm on my 3rd unit in less than 2 years. The first one failed due to the motherboard and would be in a limp mode. I would put it in electric or hybrid, and it would default back to heat pump and fail to produce hot water daily. The second one was purchased in January of this year. Half the back side blew open spraying hundreds of gallons of water, drying out my well. When I drained it the entire bottom was full of rust, and you could see the seams of the tank were rusted. I picked up the replace...

Don't buy if you want to use the AO Smith app
I've been running the water heater for 3 weeks now and still haven't resolved an issue with connecting to the app. I've called tech support a half dozen times with no resolution insite. I'm considering returning the unit and buying a Rheem.

Water heater good / App bad
The water heater itself seems to be working great. I use it exclusively on heat pump mode, and I always have plenty of hot water. But after five calls to AO Smith technical support, they still can't figure out why I can't connect it to the ICOMM mobile app. My serial number shows as a non-existent product in their database. Pretty weird. But apparently the app is pretty lame, so probably no big loss.

wow, my electric bill really went down...
After installed this smart hybrid heat pump electric water heater in my own home last year and really saw a big saving in my electric bill. I finally decide to buy 4 more to install in my rental. I did have it professional installed and have no problem with it so far. Great product!

Good if it doesn't break
I've had THREE of this model die on me. I'm in the middle of the 3rd just leaking from all sides under the cover. AO Smith will only cover $100 for a plumber to diagnose since there are NO AO Smtih specific plumbers in Huntsville. This model has zero reliability. Stay away from it.
