This unit was in our home when we purchased it in 2020. I came home one day to a rushing water sound in my garage and noticed a steady stream of water flowing to my driveway. Upon inspection there were several leaks running from the bottom of the tank. My tank is also on a wood platform about a foot off the ground. I used ChatGTP to show me how to turn off the hot water and the gas and called my husband. He called a plumber who was able to come out the same day and he informed us it needed to be...

Previous 50 gal gas direct vent State Ind water heater lasted 14 years. Im hoping this same/similar model AO Smith water heater will last as long. Just don’t understand why the cost is so much more costly than non-direct vent water heaters. Wonder if I’ll have the opportunity to provide a survey in this venue in 5 years.

Had a Braford White lasted 14 years, trying AO smith this time hope I get as many or more years. The double vent on the AO smith was really difficult to in stall when setting heater close to wall getting that 90 bend with both inside and outside vent was challenging, but the plumber got it. I prefer the double wall hard pipe instead. We shall see!
