Poor quality control.
Cold water inlet on top of heater had damaged threads; had to buy a 3/4 NPT tap to repair threads in order to either use or plug that port. So in the middle of an installation, choice is call 1800-AO Smith and wait a week for whatever they decide to do or get back in car, spend more time and money fixing someone else' problem.

I guess the unit is got had been either a return, display model or something. box was damaged, unit had a good size dent and the kicker the pressure relief valve is defective. Started leaking during filling the tank. no pressure not even full and heat was nit even turned on yet.

Very easy to install at least for me I’m a retired contractor, welder fabricator. Got tired of the old 6 gallon in the rv so put this one in. The fit was great! No complaints.

Super disappointed. Lasted 10 months
After 10 months the heating element blew. Replaced element and will not heat, replaced thermostat and still will not heat at all. Unit is getting proper voltage. Super disappointed.

I bought this one2 gallon OA Smith water. Heater for my R. V.. i mounted it outside. Of my R. V. And then Weatherproofed. It from the elements. Easy to install and has been working great.

The product is likely to be good- I can only tell after use. There is one initial quality issue -The inlet connection on the top was not perpendicular to tank, it was inclined slightly, it is causing installation problem- and also slight leak when connecting inlet pipe nipple to tank even with teflon tape, hope this is not due to a crack in the electrical isolation female threaded part. Nice tank. No nipples with the tank. Had to buy and had difficulty installing so they wouldn't leak.
