I've have this for 2 years

well today makes 6 months on the 4th replacement of this hot garbage

Compressor stopped working after 2 years!

Replacement labor cost estimated at 3,000$, and Lowe's does not guarantee replacement, so I need to pay for a new water heater out of pocket and pray for a refund! (A.O Smith already approved the replacement, but Lowe's does not accept it). Worst device! worst Customer support!

Two AO 900's in 15 Months!

Purchased the first AO Smith 900 from Lowes in November 2024. It had to be replaced in December 2025 (until replaced $1200 installation fee). Now only 3 months later the new unit is leaking and needs to be replaced AGAIN! AO Smith customer service will not do anything about installation and if they do it's $200 within the first year and that's all! This unit needs to be recalled and we all need to be made whole. Are they any class action attorney's out there that want to take this one? ...

DO NOT PURCHASE!!

Worse experience buying this unit after two months it wouldn’t heat properly, kept tripping breaker, and started leaking through front access panel. Called for replacement under 90 days had to get someone to haul away old and deliver new as AO would only offer $200 for assistance bought a different model of course as they weren’t even willing to cover having a new one installed couldn’t buy again and trust this unit with another $1200-$1800 installation charge coming never again trust me do not ...

Replacement has failed after a year

the first AO Smith hybrid failed after 18 months -- Was replaced under warranty --- Since the new replacement unit was installed we needed to change out the circult board after about 1 year --- Now 6 months after replacing the circult board -- the hot water heater runs continuosly in a basement that is approx 69 degrees yea.r round This product is not worth the trouble or the cost

It doesn't work in the winter.

This is a total scam. I bought a unit less than a week ago, and it's already malfunctioning and not heating because the heater needs to be in an environment above 40 degrees, And AO Smith customer service told me: "Sir, you have to buy an electric heater for the AO Smith heater to work." What?! This is a complete rip-off, and they won't refund my money.

Bad quality, app doesn't work

This tank hasn't been working from minute one. Mixing valve was defective, but AO Smith wouldn't replace it. Had to do it myself. App doesn't work, even today 6 months after installation. AO Smith is unable to fix it

Defective factory mixing valve, app not working

I installed this heater in September and as soon as I turned the water on, it started leaking. It turned out it was a mixing valve sitting in the top portion of the tank. Tech support offered me to disconnect the heater and bring it back to Lowes for replacement and then install the new one again. All at my expense. They would not send someone over to fix it. I ended up replacing the valve myself. I removed the top grill and figured out what's going on. Tech support mailed a new valve to me and...
