Step 1

From the roll of edge banding veneer, cut a strip 13-1/2 inches long.

Good to Know

You may want to cut off the factory tip of the roll for a clean edge.

Step 2

Overlap the ends of the strip by 1 inch and either use the tip of a steam iron turned to its hottest setting to join the ends together or use a dab of wood glue between the overlapping ends. If you glue them, use tape, clothespins, or spring clips to hold the pieces firmly together until the glue dries. Then check that the strip rests evenly on a flat surface.

Step 3

Apply the wood stain of your choice to the veneer ring or leave it unfinished.

Step 4

Add water to the glass globe and rest it centered on the veneer ring. Add flowers as desired.
