Peel off the stickers and scrub the bucket with a grease-dissolving detergent to remove any oil. Then wash the plant hook and let dry.
Spray at least two coats of paint on the bucket and plant hook (Morning Mist shown). Allow the final coat to dry overnight before using.
Screw the plant hook to a post or wall where you want to hang the planter.
If you plan to plant directly in the bucket, use a hammer and awl to punch drainage holes in the bottom. Otherwise, cut a disposable 3-quart plastic pot to fit inside the bucket and transfer the plant to the pot before placing it in the bucket. Then hang the bucket handle on the plant hook.
