  • Fine-tooth handsaw
  • Fine-grit sandpaper
  • Pencil
  • Tape measure


  • 6 - 3/8"x36" poplar square dowels (#27594)
  • Titebond 8-ounce wood glue (#86091)
  • Valspar spray paint, Metallic Gold

Step 1

Cut six 3/8"x36" dowels down to 12 18"-long pieces. Sand the ends of the dowels smooth.

Step 2

Form a triangle with three dowel pieces.

Step 3

Glue three pieces on top of it in a triangular pattern as shown. Add a weight, such as a hardcover book, and let dry.

Step 4

Glue on a third triangle. Apply weight and let dry.

Step 5

Glue on a final triangle using the three remaining pieces. Apply weight and let dry.

Step 6

Spray-paint the star in a color of your choice. (We used Valspar Metallic Gold.) Let dry and hang.
