Project Resources

Step 1

Download and print out the clothespin stencil. Have it enlarged to the desired size and laminated at any print shop.

Step 2

Apply white spray primer to a utility mat and let it dry.

Step 3

Tape off a border around the mat edge with painter's tape. Paint the rug with Valspar Everglade satin spray paint. Let dry.

Step 4

Laundry supply containers

Cut out the clothespin shape from your stencil and discard it. Tape the stencil to the mat and paint the vacant area white with a short-bristle brush.

Like the look of this rug? We used the same clothespin design for these cool containers. Round up clothespins, dryer sheets, and other laundry products in empty paint cans. Add color to the cans with spray paint and clothespin cutouts made from adhesive shelf liner.
