Step 1

Cutting lattice with a jigsaw

Cut a strip of lattice 12 inches wide by 64 inches long, or alter the dimensions shown to suit your wall space. If any lattice pieces come loose, reattach them with wood glue.

Good to Know

Support both ends of the lattice as you cut to keep from cracking the wood slats.

Step 2

Sand the cut ends smooth to remove any splinters and wipe clean. Apply the finish of your choice (Green Gecko shown).

Step 3

Where the lattice strips intersect near the top of the lattice, position the metal hooks -- we used 9 in a row -- and mark the mounting screw locations. Drill 3/32-inch pilot holes and screw the hooks to the lattice.

Step 4

Installed lattice coat rack painted green

Drill holes at intersections in the lattice roughly every 18 inches for screws to mount the lattice coat rack on a wall. Hold the rack level in position and mark the mounting screw locations on the wall. Install wall anchors as needed and screw the lattice on the wall.

Good to Know

If you want to hide the mounting screws, touch up the heads with dabs of paint the same color as the lattice.
