Dreaming up ideas to enhance a garden comes naturally to most gardeners. As we rifle through magazine photos and Internet sites, we tear out pages and make lists, drooling over items that we want to add to our gardens. I've perused Lowe's website for gift ideas to fulfill gardeners' dreams this holiday season. Here's my top-five wish list.
Extend outdoor hours by sitting around a warm fire at night. A fire pit on the patio or in the garden makes gathering outdoors possible even when there's a chill in the air. The glow of a toasty fire is a cozy way to enjoy spending time with friends and family.
String lights draped from trees or a pergola add that just-right ambiance at an evening garden party. These are practical yet whimsical gifts for those who relish entertaining outdoors all year long.
I don't know a single gardener who isn't obsessed with weather forecasts and current temperatures. This wireless weather station tells us what we want to know, and - best of all - it reads the day's high and low temperatures. No more guessing. I think I'll buy one to give and one to keep.
Never underestimate the power of a gift card for the gardener who seems to have everything. Believe me, there's always another plant, container or trellis to tempt a gardener, especially when armed with a plastic card loaded with a few dollars to spend. A gift card to Lowe's is one of my favorite gifts to give and to receive.
