Brought to you by Lowe's Creative Ideas

Bring on glamour and global influences. Combine jewel tones and winged creatures with traditional decor for a memorable, one-of-a-kind Christmas style.

Deck Your Halls

Jewel tones paired with your Christmas decor give it a worldly aspect inspired by nature’s gems. Complement traditional red, gold, and white with rich teal, royal purple, vivid chartreuse, and striking fuchsia. Neutral, transitional-style rooms gain radiant splendor for the holidays. A snowy Christmas tree dotted with clusters of brightly hued balls gains a soft touch with winged creatures. A Moravian star topper (#585895) echoes the porch decor and adds a sleek global touch.

Make a Colorful Entrance

Mix cut branches and an artificial wreath with indoor elements to create an inviting entry. Oversize shatterproof Christmas ornaments (#477352) suspended from sculptural branches look like stars framing a Moravian star pendant light (#477458). An embellished live Christmas tree, an ornament-trimmed wreath, wrapped packages, and a spray-painted table (Valspar Magician’s Cloak) beckon guests.

Fanciful Foyer

Bring an entryway to life with vibrant colors and a few birds nestled in the scene. Amp up a green garland with clusters of violet, red, teal, and blue Christmas ornaments (#674195, #677417, #677395). Accents of white carnations and gold ornaments (#674201) bring softness. Customize stockings (#674007) by adding sparkling snowflake ornaments (#674202) with each family member’s initial handwritten on the ornament.

Sparkling Baubles and Inspiring Adornments

Birds of a feather flock together on the full-size white Christmas tree (#585386) and mantel -- vivid against walls painted Valspar Summer Sky, #5001-9B. Birds (#677404) perch on small white pre-lit Christmas trees (#675047). The pre-lit wreath (#477177) acts as a resting place for a trio of winged creatures in the rich hues of the asymmetrical ornament arrangement. Butterflies (#674196) take flight around the white garland made from disassembled tree picks (#677467). On the table, regal deer (#677372, #677382) rest among live greenery and shimmery picks (#585821) used as tabletop trees -- twist the pick’s wire to form a base for the tree.

Designer Tips

Repurpose tree picks into wreaths, tree toppers, mantel decor, or ornaments. Cut in half and wired together, red berry picks (#477478) create starburst ornaments. Separated golden picks (#585801) and peacock-feather picks (#677473) add bits of sparkle in Christmas trees. Peacocks are subtle inspiration for the color palette. Their feathers and shapes appear in specialized Christmas tree ornaments (#674186, #677393). Picks also make surprising gift toppers.

Mantel Christmas decoration.

Sparkle and Shine

A wrapped box serves two purposes in this display: It adds height and glamour to the mantel tree, and it helps hide cords. Evergreen sprigs, small bulb ornaments (#674201), and carnations come together to create a simple mantel garland.

Wrapping Inspiration

Make this task a little easier this season with fun gift-wrapping tricks.

  • When traveling with gifts, skip the bow and opt for ribbon wrapped creatively around the box. It will stay in place during travels and look beautiful.
  • Top a present with extra holiday decor. We disassembled sparkling red berry picks (#477478) and wired them in a star shape for a stunning topper.
  • Skip the tags and write names on small Christmas ornaments for bagged gifts.
  • Love the idea of coordinating gift wrap? Buy one roll of patterned and one of solid-color wrapping paper in coordinating colors (make one a neutral). Buy two coordinating rolls of colored ribbon. It’s easy to mix and match.
  • Make sorting easy. Assign each family member a different ribbon design, bow color, or wrapping paper. Wrap each person’s gifts in their assigned pattern.

Wire together shimmery blue peacock-feather picks (#677473) to form a DIY wreath. Finish it with golden balls for contrast.

Dining Decor

Bring color and luster from the Christmas tree onto the painted dining table (Valspar Blue Raindrop, #4005-5A) by clustering Christmas ornaments, LED candles, and greenery in a stunning centerpiece (#677305, #395327). For a touch of glamour, drape the chandelier (#423822) with ball garland (#674199) and ornaments (#674133). Almost any string garland can add a splash of color and tie the fixture to your holiday decor. Set pre-lit white trees (#675047) against windows for a stunning display. Use cake stands to vary the tree heights. Greenery, festive balls, and feathery white flowers ground the scene while delicate butterflies flutter around the trees.
