Step 1

Download the crossbones patterns. Choose the smaller version for smaller areas or download the tiled version to cover a larger area, such as this porch railing.

Step 2

Cut out the template and use it to draw bones on the cardboard with a pencil.

Step 3

Place the traced cardboard on a cutting surface. Cut out bones with a utility knife.

Step 4

Follow the manufacturer's instructions to spray-paint the bones white.

Step 5

Attach bones to rails from the backside using painter's tape. For better adhesion, lightly clean the wall or porch area before taping.

Good to Know

If attaching bones to siding or other surfaces, test tape on an inconspicuous area to be sure it will not remove paint or leave a residue when removed.
