allen + roth White Floating Shelves with Hidden Mounting Brackets and Brushed Nickel Hook and Rail

Way overpriced

This review is mainly on the value of this shelf -$45 is way to high for what is basically a piece of particle board, a couple of screws and a metal rack. it should be more like $25-30. The drywall anchors were super cheapo plastic and didn't work well. Also, older versions of this shelf came with little white pieces to cover the screw holes, but now it doesn't so you see two dark holes in the middle of the shelf that you have to cover yourself somehow.

cheap fiberboard product w/exposed edges

This is a truly crummy product. Cheap, thin MDF with exposed edges - unpainted and can see the thin, almost cardboard like material. Wavy at the edges. One of the two screws that secures the shelf to the bracket would not align. Junk.

Floating Shelf- Take Your Time Installing

Picked up a couple of these in the Lowes by me. Taking my time to install, and using a level, came out perfectly. To eliminate the 3 holes on the underside of the shelf, I simply installed with the holes facing upward and they look perfect. If you take your time installing, you will get a perfect installation. You will definitely need a Stud-Finder as you will want to have at minimum 1 screw into a stud. You can always drill another hole into the wall mount if the bracket is off center of the...

Wall

These shelves look so great against my favorite colored walls!!! BUT, we did have to add (decorative) shelf brackets underneath them for strength safety!!

Poor packaging for delivery

I liked the product. I had the product delivered and did not like how it was packaged for shipping. There was a huge lack of bubble wrap permitting the product to bounce around in its shipping box. After the shelves were installed I noticed damage to a corner of the shelf. The installation was a lot of work and I let it go. Had I inspected it better before installing it, I would have rejected the product and asked for a replacement

Easy install, but for light loads only

Comes with all necessary hardware, which is great. I recommend you mount into the studs, though, instead of using the drywall anchors. This shelf comes in two parts: (a) the metal frame that you mount to the wall; and (b) the finished shelf that slides over the frame. Very easy to install and looks good, but don’t plan to use it for anything heavy. The finished shelf is manufactured material (fiberboard, maybe?) with a veneer. Also, this product is fragile but the packaging around it is flimsy -...

Low quality product, missing hardware

The hardware is included in the package, but they only gave me 4 of the 6 necessary drywall anchors and 6 of the 9 necessary screws. On top of that, the posts on the mounting bracket weren’t level so when I finally got the shelf up (after scrounging up replacements for the missing hardware), the shelf tilted up at a ~30 degree angle. Also, it reportedly holds 17 lbs, but the hanging instructions say if you use the drywall hangers instead of studs it will “greatly affect weight loading capacity”,...

Great but won't hold a lot of weight.

This is a great set of shelf's. They look great and are easy to install. Why 3 stars? They can only hold a few pounds! These are not ment for books at all. Only really small and light item.

Poorly cut

I got 2 of them but, although labeled the same size, one was actual a half inch shallower than the other making them look very different when put next to each other.
