Best smart doorbell and security camera

There are many websites with descriptions of the Nest Hello smart doorbell, so I will avoid describing it's basic features and instead focus on what it does very well, not very well, and how it works specifically for us. Pros: Security camera - Nest Hello is on and recording 24/7, unlike I think all other smart doorbells that only start to record once they sense movement. Some people are unhappy that the Hello is a little late to notify of motion or a person, but you can always go back as for a...

Convenient but could be better

I am a diehard Google person so I chose this over the Ring Doorbell. I have two Google Home's and the Google Thermostat etc. so I kept it on brand. I do want to mention I have never used the Ring so this isn't a comparison, just what I have noticed using the Nest Hello. I like that it saves people's faces and you can select if you know them or not. The sensitivity of the sound can not be adjusted, so any birds or cars or any sound it picks up. Which I dislike. I have two zones set with mine and ...

Hello. Is it me you're looking for?

TL;Dr Buy this doorbell. Don't think about it, take my word for it... Buy it. I promise you won't regret it. You can trust me, internet friend. I have many Nest products. 2 outdoor cams, the indoor IQ, 3 detects, Nest Secure, and now the Hello. If you're already invested in the Nest ecosystem like I am, the Hello Doorbell is a no brainer. The Hello works seamlessly with all the other Nest products so well that you'll wonder how you ever lived your life without it. Seriously, it's that good. ...

Voice Control for Your Nest Devices

I decided to purchase a Google Home Hub after Christmas when I saw that it was on sale and I also had a Lowes gift card to use. I've been automating my home with Wemo switches and Nest devices. The Google Home Hub works with the Wemo switches as well as Alexa, but it is even better if you have Nest equipment. You can use it to arm Nest Guard and lock the Nest Yale lock with voice command. Alexa cannot do this and I'm not sure they will ever add that functionality to her now that Amazon and N...

Great for Seniors and Tech Savvy too

The voice recognition can be sketchy at times; it would be nice if it could be better trained liked Dragon Naturally Speaking even though that is a pain. As a virtual assistant, I like the fact it is not directly attached to a store and thus cannot “accidentally” order things on my behalf. I also like the mechanical on/off microphone button to ensure it cannot listen if I do not want it too. The most amazing thing is how fast it can come back with an answer to an obscure question. I can ask it...

Inconsistent !!

I will be returning it. First of all, I needed Nest support to even help me get it working. But, finally, connecting to the Router (97, instead of 97-5G), it worked. For about 3 days. Then it went offline and nothing would get it online again. So I spent money on a wi-if extender. Bang! Connected again. So, I’m happy. BUT, it goes offline again—with the extender on the other side of the wall from it !! Nothing could connect it. I walked away. Then, a couple hours later, it’s online (magic, I g...

Love it

I was researching other similar products for about a year before this came to market. The thing that made me really decide to purchase this was the price, it's about $70 less than a comparative competitors product. I have other nest products also, so I finally took the dive into the video doorbell realm. If I didn't have to relocate it it would have been a piece of cake to install, but that was because about 1/3 of the view was blocked because of the brick on my house, and I have OCD lol. Set up...

The best Smart Doorbell on the market

I make sure to research as much as possible in to compatibility with other smart products with the most functionality at the best price. I could write a book on the best products that work well with each other. In a market where everyone want's to create their own version or device, not one company creates ALL of them. That's why you need to know which products work with each other and do it WELL. Nest is hands down the most friendly to other devices. I knew from the beginning I would get a nest...

BUYER BEWARE! DO NOT BUY!

When this doorbell, it works great. But here is the problem. I bought one of these in September 2018 for my brand new house. It stopped working about two years later. I called Nest for support, and I was told "Sorry, its out of warranty, we can't help you". So I bought a replacement Feb. 3rd of 2021. That one also stopped working yesterday. I called Nest support again....got the same answer. It is 10 days past the warranty, with the exact same problem as the first, and they will not do a...

Great doorbell with some quirks

Having been a huge Nest fan for years and owning one or more of everything they have made, I was glad to add a Hello doorbell to our new home since I added a Ring Pro to our prior home before Hello was available. Love the integration to my Nest app but two things have kept me from rating 5 stars:1. While I understand the rationale that a 4:3 ratio allows “taller” captures, I never had any issues via Ring and wonder why Nest (Google at this point) hasn’t switched to 16:9 like all the others. 2. C...
