Kwikset smartcode deadbolt

This is a great product. Took me far longer to install this than it should have because I couldn't believe it was such a simple install. During install the lock was for a right hand opening door out of the box and I was thinking I grabbed the wrong version. Directions didn't really expound on the fact that the lock will detect whether the door is a left or right hand opening door. YouTube video saved me a trip back to Lowes to get the "right" lock for my door opening. Also in the directions...

Bad lock and weird company policy

The lock was not responding to the commands. Keypad is hard to press. It is also only designed to work with a home security system not with a smart device over WiFi. Lowe’s still sells it even though Kwikset discontinued it per their website. Therefore you can’t get the master code to program it as standalone. Why would kwikset withhold the code even if it is discontinued? Why not include the code with the lock itself like the competitors do?

Compatible with Vivint Smarthome!

I connected it to my Vivint smarthome panel with as much ease as having them do it themselves. All I had to do was call them and tell them I wanted to add a new smart lock Z-Wave device and they gave me the installer toolbox code to unlock it in my panel and add it myself. It was simple, efficient, and works flawlessly with my system. Even shows up in the app as a lock that I can tell to unlock/lock when I arm/disarm my home, etc. I cannot recommend it enough. got some good features

He is usually pretty tech savy, but this threw him a few challenges. It is working good with the push button but to do it remotely, it is sometimes a hit and miss. Missing parts

Bought the 913 dead bolt unopened but it did not include the mounting plate. Drove 20 miles back to Lowes and exchanged it for the same model. Should have checked the parts before driving home. Second unit was missing the same mounting bracket as well as the battery pack holder. Switching brands and taking back the front door model number 917 as well. At over $5 per gallon for fuel as well as over three hours of my time, I’m rather irritated with the products

Many features on Kwikset Smartcode 888 Deadbolt

Took me an hour to install because I didn't read the instructions all the way through before starting. You can lock deadbolt by hitting a single button and the keypad lights up so you can see it in the dark. To unlock you enter your pin code then hit the lock button. Kwikset with Alexa

The product is now fine and works well but it took a bit for me to get it to work. The deadbolt was binding a little bit which caused it not completely lock. When this happened, it would show an unknown status even though the door was locked. I readjusted the position of the deadbolt and it now works properly both through my Smartthings Hub and Alexa. I did get good response from both Kwikset and Samsung customer service which led me to the problem

Convenient for my kids

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It took me a bit to write the review because I needed to install it first. Installation wasn't too difficult. I really like the fact I can give the kids the code and don’t have to worry about them not having a key or even losing a house key. Not sure why we didn’t do this years ago. Very happy with the product.

A Lifesaver!
