I've had this Ring doorbell for about a year. Installed on my second home, a shore house that I visit every weekend in the summer, and otherwise about once a month. My plan was to use it to monitor the front of my house when I'm away. Unfortunately, it just doesn't work properly. Issues are numerous: - Live view never works. Each time I try to open it, I get a spinning "activating device" for several seconds, then a "Streaming Error - Try Again." My RSSI is "very strong" at -36. Wifi si...
Great Value

Best purchase in a while!
I absolutely love our Ring Doorbell 2 (2nd generation). We decided to go with the unwired version and it was super easy to self install! I have to be honest, we didn’t buy it due to crime, but because we live in Colorado and have a ton of wildlife in our neighborhood. I didn’t want to miss seeing them. Sure, crime is everywhere and I do feel much more comfortable knowing that if anything does happen, it will be recorded. However, of all the doorbell cameras I researched the Ring doorbell seems t...

A Must Have for Homeowners Looking
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I recently installed the ring Video Doorbell 3 at our back door where people come and packages are left. I am not a handy person when it comes to making home repairs or adding things to the house, but I have to say, the installation of this video doorbell was the easiest thing I have done. When it comes to setting up the ring Video Doorbell 3, you can choose from using the batter power (which is rechargeable) or hardwired power, connecting w...

Good camera
Video quality is pretty good on it, day time viewing is great. Night vision is a little dark to see, but it is on me due to where I had to mount it. I mounted it directly on the door, the only problem with that is it picks up the white trimming around the door more than anything in the dark. My solution was to put a small motion activated light under it, it allows me to see the footage alright if someone happens in the dark. Under better mounting circumstances it works well at night Overall I a...

Good !!!
I purchased this for my husband for Christmas last year and he installed it by removing the old doorbell and wiring it into the electric. (I also purchased the Alexa that pairs with it, but I'll make a separate review for that.)It's been a life saver! Not only can we answer the door when we're away, but we can answer it from inside the house, when we don't recognize the person at the door.Today, there was a suspicious looking van in our neighborhood, going door-to-door, soliciting work (allegedl...

The Ring Video Doorbell 2 offers reliable home security with features like motion detection and two-way audio, but occasional connectivity issues and the need for a subscription for full functionality are notable considerations.
The Ring Video Doorbell 2 is a solid choice for home security. Its features like motion detection, two-way audio, and night vision offer peace of mind. Installation can be straightforward, but ensure a strong Wi-Fi connection for optimal performance. The subscription for cloud storage adds value for those wanting to save and review footage. However, occasional connectivity issues and the need for a subscription for full functionality are drawbacks to consider. Overall, it’s a reliable option for...

Not Great!!!!!
My husband and I like the door bell, but, the handyman sent out by Angi, was not very useful, he did not speak english very well, wich made the appointment very difficult. I also do not know why they would send out someone at 6pm to do a job outside, since it is dark then. The person at the Lowe's store who sold the door bell to us, didn't tell us,that it had to be charged up before installation. That caused a problem as well. After the Angi worker was here for 1 hour and 45 minutes, and stil...

No way to reconnect if it goes offline when NOT home
I’m sure most are familiar with Ring which is a great system but a lot of people don’t realize the downfalls to it. It has a job and alert you right to your phone or whatever device you have. It doesn’t mention that if it disconnects while you’re out of town, there’s no way to reconnect it without being present in person next to the ring camera. So if there’s a power flash or a storm while you’re gone, you’ll have no videos surveillance, no access until you get home to reconnect it. I find this ...

Horrible reliability and quality; mediocre battery
We bought this a few months ago and have yet to have a single week without issue. TL;DR: this is an overpriced, ok looking brick about 70% of the time. Do not rely on this as a means to replace a doorbell and certainly do not rely on this for security. Quality - Can be pretty good (most comparable to iPhone 5/6 in perfect lighting); however, if there's even a SLIGHT issue with connectivity–this is more a question of "when" because even after purchasing a range extender the signal is poor–the...
