Wear long pants and a long-sleeved shirt. Make sure any exposed skin on your face is covered. Don't forget gloves and goggles.
The easiest way to get rid of wasps is with a wasp trap. The traps contain a liquid bait that attracts the wasps. Once they crawl into the trap, they get stuck and drown. If there is a large colony, your traps will fill up fast and you should replace them often. Be sure to hang them away from your patio, deck or any other place where you spend time outdoors.
If you want to kill wasps instantly, another popular method of killing wasps is a wasp repellent. You can use aerosol sprays either on a nest or individual wasps. Be sure to only spray the nest at dusk or dawn when the colony is less active. Stand as far away from the nest as possible when spraying. Look for a wasp repellent that sprays at least 15-20 feet.
When using wasp repellent, follow the manufacturer's instructions regarding protective gear. Be sure to keep pets and people away from the area for the recommended amount of time.
Yellow light attracts wasps, so if you're using a flashlight put a piece of red cellophane over the light.
Diatomaceous earth (DE) is another effective tool. DE is a natural product that will kill wasps near your home. DE is non-toxic, non-poisonous and safe to use around pets and children. Simply apply a large amount of dust in and around the nest. In addition to protective clothing, you should also wear a mask when dusting a wasp nest.
You should wait at least 24 hours after spraying the nest with wasp repellent to make sure all of the wasps are dead. If you see any activity, spray the nest again and wait another 24 hours. Once you're sure all the wasps are dead, it's safe to remove the nest.
To begin the process of nest removal, approach the nest at dusk or dawn for safety. Next, cover the nest with a heavy-duty contractor garbage bag or another type of thick bag. Carefully remove the nest from where it's attached to the building. Finally, seal the bag and dispose of the nest.

I have tons of paper wasps and very annoying mud dabbers around everywhere on my property especially near my house/porch. Hung this thing and has not caught a single one. its been hanging there for over a month and I've checked it everyday, absolutely nothing other than some unfortunate moth that decided to land on it. Better off spraying nests with foaming killer.

It kills birds...
After about a week, we saw 10 flies in the trap. The next morning we found a Carolina Wren dead in the trap. They like to make nests in small areas like planters. Evidently this design was appealing to it and it died a horrible death, struggling with its wings splayed out. Please redesign this.

Wasp traps work!
Easy to put together and easy to hang up. I wish they weren't so brightly colored, but if it helps in anyway to attract the wasps, it's fine by me. I bought 3 of them to put near the patio and around the house. I can't find any nests, but have had a lot of visitors! These traps are working great!!

This product is great. We used a few of them throughout the back yard last summer and we are buying more for this year. Took a while but does work
It took a solid month, I was really started to doubt this product. At the 30 day mark it started catching them. By 45 days it was working very well. Good product, use multiple around your property for full protection.
sticky trap with shield
This sticky trap comes with a shield to protect birds and probably any small lizards so they can walk over it. Very light weight makes it easy to mount in most places. Might need a replacement mid summer depending on where you're located and amount of insects. I learned to catch mosquitos you need to smear around a mix of brown sugar and yeast which produced carbon dioxide, among other ways.
