False Warranty

Sturdy construction but some annoyances

Have had it for a year now. Sturdily built and not flimsy like the typical low cost pastic hose reel. Immediately obvious was that the connector hose that was supplied with it was short and of low quality and pretty much always kinked so needed to be replaced with a better one. Got one that was twice as long to make it easier to reach the spigot on the side of the house which is behind some shrubs so couldn't roll the cart right up to it. Best of the worst

Like everyone I bought the cheap plastic one for $25 the one that lasts about 2 years then it falls apart. I wanted something that was sturdier and had better seals. The idea of a metal hose reel was exactly what I was looking for. Something like we used to have back in the day when things were not made of plastic. Nice reel! See Pro tip below

This is a very nice product. So nice that I bought 2 of them. Lightweight, yet is smooth when reeling in the hoses. Only two Cons-- The handle is pretty short for moving across the yard. And the hose kinks at the interior connector to your yard hose. Pro-tip---The connector to your hose (inside the wheel chassis) tends to kink and lessen the water flow. Hose reel

went to pick item up and the sides of the box was tore up but that was fine it still was closed. when got it home I opened it up and there was a pile of leaves at the bottom of the box and bird poop all over the hose real and bottom of the box. It looked like the box had been outside for a year and birds had gotten in it. NEVER should have been put out or retrieved for a online order!!

Missing part

I am a 100% disable veteran and it is difficult to say the least just to get out of the house. When I can get to Lowes to find items I need I am met with a hose reel preassembled except for the bolt that holds the crank on. Guess what was missing! Either Aimes, or Lowes owes me a bolt or I going to have to trek back to the store lugging my oxygen to shove this hose reel up someone's backside!

Solidly built, should last years. Easy to assemble. The frame has 5 year limited warranty by AMES as free of defects in materials and workmanship, and a 2 year warranty on the poly components. Nice cart, lousy parts service from Ames.

Lightweight, sturdy and attractive. Own three for various locations around the house and, overall, very happy with this product. Much sturdier and more attractive than the all plastic versions, and won't rust like many of the competing metal hose reel carts. Probably couldn't be worse

Only useful part of this review: IF YOU NEED ANY SUPPORT FROM AMES JUST USE THE CONTACT FORM ON THEIR SITE. There is no other support available. Your life will probably be better if you are never in the position to need this information. Terrible details: Cart arrived missing water inlet latch, which is not listed in the parts list, nor shown in the diagram in the manual, so you'll probably only discover this halfway through assembling it. Five years later and I still like it!

This was a second purchase for me. I first purchased this same item 5 years ago for the front yard and decided to get the exact same product for the back yard. It's well made, is lightweight but sturdy, just the right size for use by either a man or a woman, easy to use, and looks nice next to the spigot on a visible side of the house.
