Parts missing - Poor design

I ordered 2 of these on-line to create a double door. Several parts were missing from each box and I had to go to the store to negotiate the parts out of a kit they sell called the "replacement parts kit"...so they have such a problem with these that they sell a kit of replacedment parts? Hmmm.... I also purchased the joining kit, but only used the bumpers out of it as the mending plate was inadequate for my needs. I used a framing mending plates instead and they worked great. Functional ; Disapppointed by Construction Quality

This is the second of these kits that I have purchased and installed. I had some minor issues with the first install that were overcome in a straightforward manner and didn't rise to the level of documented complaints. However, this kit was a little bit more problematic. The end bracket for the header assembly was nowhere close to being square to the assembly itself. Worst Install Instructionss Ever

These are some of the worst install instructions ever. Too small to read with some type of magnification. Vague and lacking pertinent information and the illustration diagram is useless. Can't even find a good on-line video to watch to be sure you are installing it correctly, correct rough opening, where to measure from to make the correct cuts. Just poorly done, but you made sure to get at three languages included making the print and illustrations that much smaller.

Terrible

The instructions and the hanging hardware are TOTALLY DIFFERENT. The hardware comes in pieces and you have to figure it out. There are other reviews regarding the terrible instructions and these dummies respond with a link to their YT page with NO VIDEOS on pocket door instructions. I guess I will buy another hardware kit for the door and hope it works in the track for this garbage.

Don't Get the Negative Reviews?

I'm just a DIYer and had zero issues installing this kit. Hung a 36" solid core door (extra heavy) and it slides like glass. It was obvious how it was supposed to go together and I'm an idiot (despite the Master's degree). Don't get the problem.

Does the Job

After being scared off by the Masonite pocket door kits because of all the bad reviews, I found this and decided to give it a shot. Sure it takes a little more assembly than those pre-assembled frames, but the end product did what I wanted it to. Overall, there's really no way to generalize the difficulty of installing a pocket door because everyone's situation is different. If you're replacing an existing pocket door, then yes it will probably be much easier than installing one new. In my case...

Although This pocket door kit was the easy to install, instructions made it seem like it wasn’t as customizable. My door was an existing 30x79 swinging door, which after reading the instructions what have would have created a 2 inch gap from the subfloor to the bottom of the door. Bi-Parting Bracket

If you are planning to install two doors meeting in the middle of the opening, you will need an additional part not included in the kit. It is called a bi-parting bracket and I had to have mine special ordered. (had to order 5 to get them) This part is actually two joiners (one on each side of the rough header). Wrong parts in kit

We got to the part of the installation where we were ready to hang the door and found out we had the wrong parts in our kit. The rollers that came with our kit do not fit the track. They're a good 1/8" to big for the rail. I'm not sure which is wrong but being we've already cut and installed the frame so there's no returning it now.

Watch a video first

Once you get over the fact that you will be cutting open one side of your drywall, this is an easy, 1-hour job (not counting patch and paint). Comes as a kit for new installation, so the long "side stiffeners" are not needed in a repair/replace. Do NOT depend upon instructions... ever.
