[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I bought this saw from another contractor who had already had it for awhile. I started my own general contracting business about three years ago. I was so excited to own a Metabo Saw! It has done really well for me I’d like to upgrade to a sliding miter saw now. The saw has been easy to use and has passed the test of time and is still working today

Great saw after alignment
Thought I would write a detailed review as I've struggled with sliding miter saws (DeWalt 708 and 779). Figured single pivot would help with precision cuts. I'm a hobbyist woodworker. For the money, I'm happy with the saw and would buy it again. I'll start with CONS, as that's what I always look for: - was not aligned out of the box (90 miter nor 0 bevel) (took a while to do this, main reason for subtracting a star) - the bevel pin was not at 0 degrees and can't figure out how to adjust it, ...
Metabo took care of me, but...
I'm a pro kitchen remodeler of 27 years. I'm on my fourth 12" Hitachi/Metabo. I generally like them, especially the way the bevel knobs work. Laser is nice. But the fence system is not good. I always have to place shims on the tall, moveable fences to make sure my crown sits against a perfectly square surface. I've had to dremel out small chunks in the housing in order for 5-1/4" baseboard to be cut on both 45 degree miters. And of course, I have to do the usual miter saw squaring, which...
Exceeded expectations. Great construction!
I bought this after my old saw finally stopped working. I looked at the sliding options but really liked the pricing and stability this saw offered. I was in the middle of a construction job and decided this would be a great job site saw. The laser is nice but it can take a little time adjusting to it. For rough construction it’s is great the accuracy can get off a bit for finer cuts but still it’s a nice feature to have. This dual compound saw allowed me to make all the angled cuts I needed to ...

Dangerous Tool
I was attracted to this saw because of it's features and it's reasonable price. I was looking for something with at least one bevel and bigger than a 10' blade, and this seemed to fit into this category and is under $500. Upon initial inspection the craftsman ship and material seemed to be of good quality. I brought it home and began to set it up. Virtually all the bevel indicators were off, including the laser, which isn't uncommon due to shipping wear and tear. The thing that struck me was th...
DO NOT
After fighting with this saw again just now, here's my review.... I bought this saw last year when it was Hitachi from the store in Northridge, California. At the Northridge Lowe's the inventory showed that there were 3 in stock. The staff could only locate one of them and it was an open box. I had read some good reviews on it and my heart was set on it. I was very disappointed but the sales lady said "I'll give you 10% off and if there's a problem, just bring it back." I didn't get the ...
Very nice. The laser makes all difference!!!
I'm a huge fan of Hitatchi tools. I have Hitatchi drills, drivers, reciprocating saws and more. I expected a lot when I bought this miter saw and it definitely delivers. Pros: It's powerful. Not only is it powerful, but it's a double bevel and at this price point, with a laser, you're not going to find a better deal. I've had mine for about 8 months now. I think I paid $229 for it on sale. It was a great deal!!!! I will point out a few negatives. The blade that it comes with is pretty weak. Afte...
good so far
I think its a good saw and does its job. The reason I'm only giving a 3 is because the pin that holds the bevel at a 90 deg is off. Have to leave it out and just tighten down the screw hoping it doesn't move. Also had to adjust stop for 45 deg bevel because it was off. I would think that all of that should be taken care of at the factory. I know getting shipped has a lot of hard knocks which is why you should check for square before cutting anything but the pin being off from 90 is odd and I see...

Good Saw For Home Owner - Not For Professionals
I bought this saw in store to do some crown molding cuts for our new kitchen cabinets. The saw is good for your average home owner who does not need high precision crown molding cuts that rely on the fence being perpendicular to the table. The manufacturing quality of the fences is not good. The fences were about 3 to 4 degrees out of perpendicular with the table, with no in built means of adjustment. The fences can be adjusted to achieve perpendicularity with the saw blade, but not the tabl...
