It’s both heats and cools efficiently, so much so we watched the electric meter to see if it registered a jump in power usage and it was almost unnoticeable. The unit also seems well built and well designed. I HIGHLY recommend the MrCool DIY units to anyone with moderate technical know-how. They are worth every penny vs the cheap units you have to pay a certified technician more than the price difference to install.

The only thing worse than MRCOOL’s build quality is their customer service. Two months after installing the first unit, we still don’t have working air conditioning. I have a 600 sq. ft. room above my garage that serves as a den/recreational room. The single zone heat pump for that room died several years ago and I have been trying to control the climate with window units in the summer and space heaters in the winter. Terrible delivery and lack of care
The product is great, the delivery was a mess. They brought a big truck that cannot be driven to the top of the hill where we live (we understand that) but they refused to help my wife and daughter to take the unit out of the car uphill with the excuse that they cannot leave the truck alone (they were two guys). My wife had a surgery and cannot lift heavy weights. We will avoid as much as possible any future delivery orders from Lowe's

We have Gen 3
We installed a Gen3 two years ago. Works great. Use precaution when bending copper cubes. Ours still works good. Heat works best on Heat mode. Auto mode heater works well above 40f degrees.

Mrcool does not have an actual warranty. Keep this in mind before buying. They suck. Was told “oh yeah, it’s a 5 year warranty” load of crap. They’ll send you replacement parts but will not pay for a tech to install. If you lose refrigerant because of a faulty part, YOU have to pay for a fresh charge. Will NOT be using this company ever again. Got 18months for 2 thousand dollars. Screw mrcool.
