Have this machine for about 3 weeks. It replaced my 17 yr old Roper, also had a direct drive motor. Roper no longer has Direct drive, I noticed my whites are whiter, and all my clothes and towels come out much softer. I use mostly the normal setting, and use deep fill only when the load is large. So far I love this washer.

LG Washer for apartment
I’m pleased with the washer, but I’m not happy with the install process. Lowe’s failed to complete the installation and I had to get the apartment maintenance crew to finish by opening a valve. I also had to move the washer by myself into the final space. Lowe’s charged an installation fee, but didn’t refund it when they bailed.

Don't buy this if you like clean clothes.
I've had this washer for about a year and a half now. It never gets my clothes clean on the regular cycle. The regular cycle doesn't even wash the soap out, and of course it automatically sets itself to "normal cycle warm water" so i have to set it to deep wash and cold water every time. I've had this for a couple of weeks and I don't care for it. It's good enough to keep but i'll complain the whole time. The agitator is too gentle and slow. It spins one half spin one way then goes half a spin the other way so slowly, it pulls a piece of clothing towards it, then when it spins the other way it pushes the SAME piece of clothing away. In a repeated fashion so it doesn't touch the clothes on the outer circle! After two min of this sloww agitation it does pick up speed and redeems...

OK washer, has one issue
This washer is supposed to be energy-efficient, which it achieves by using a very minimal amount of water. The first time I ran the washer I looked into the basket and said out loud "that can't possibly be enough water." It does ok if you're washing a load of micro-fiber t-shirts or compression socks, but it does not work if you're washing a load of 8 or 10 short sleeve shirts, because the washer determines how much water is needed by the weight of the clothes.
