This hole saw will go through wood with ease. Just be careful with your drill and make sure you have a good grip, because it will twist your arm or wrist up in a hurry! A little more expensive than others, but Lenox makes great products that last a while.

I used this to go through a 2x4, 7/8" decking and part of a 2x6 in 3 different spots as well as multiple studs for a pvc drain line and it never got full.

Perfect for coring through pvc

Used to core through and install a gasket in a pvc catch basin. Cut through like butter, easy to pop the plug right out with the access slits on the side.
