Read instructions several times / practice patienc

Kwik-set Easy-key works but instructions are confusing. Instructions showed Easy-key tool port on top of key once turned 90 degrees. My install had the tool port underneath the key. Needed to get on knees and use a flashlight to see port. Easy-key tool seemed not to insert completely. However, key way was changed to old key. Lock worked. .

Replaced door locks

We moved into a new home and felt that we needed to replace the locks. The front door lock was a Kwikset and was not functioning well. We called Kwikset to inquire about the warranty. Within a week, Kwikset sent us a replacement front door lock set. So we decided to replace all of the other locks so they would be keyed to match. your original key that ur tryin to copy won’t work

our original key wouldn’t even fit in the key hole- it was a kwikset key-tried many times. the actual door set was very nice and we got 2 and we just ended up using the key it came w to copy w other door but now we need to buy another one. just upset for how much it cost and the key wouldn’t even work in new door knob

Poor quality control.

I swore I'd never buy another Kwikset product, but since all the other exterior doors in the house have Kwikset locksets and I wanted to be able to key them all the same, here I am and yet again I am left frustrated. Pros - the entire product appears to be made out of metal and the deadbolt and handle feel nice and sturdy. The SmartKey is neat and makes keying and re-keying the entire house simple. The latch breaks, and you can't get in or out.

Perfect In and Out--Years Free of Trouble

I bought these for my old house years ago and loved them. We had them for 8 years. They are so convenient when your hands are full. You do not have to turn a door knob. Smart Key function was a nightmare

I was building a house and bought these with the intention of re-keying them after completion. When the day came to re-key them I followed the directions (which are pretty simple) for the dead bolt portion. After inserting the original key, turning it to the 90 degree mark, inserted the reset tool, removed old key, inserted new key and turned to left and right. It worked one time then it locked up.
