Pliers you never thought you needed
There is nothing more frustrating when you have a job and don’t have the right tools. These pliers saved my ceiling from crumbling in due to a leak from my upstairs bathroom. Great pliers!
Irwin gets a bad rap sometimes. I own several of their pliers, and they have ALWAYS got the job done. They're quick-adjust, which works phenomenally. You can get quite a bit of pressure on the handles, even with the 8". These are daily users in my work bag, and I would like to buy another set for home. The only thing that keeps me from giving these pliers 5-stars, is that the finer teeth have smashed out a little. I'm not sure what I was doing to cause that, and it doesn't seem to affect grip to...
Groovelock Pliers
I bought these because I was tired of my channel locks not having enough adjustment or slipping out of their groove when you open them. These eliminate both problems by having at least twice as many grooves and holding in place when you open them all the way. The only thing I dislike is that the handles feel slightly awkward and you can push them to higher settings without pressing the release button.

Better than I thought.
So I knew i needed some vice grips, but this particular wrench intrigued me and the pricing wasn't so bad either. Turns out that the push lock system and the grip is pretty on point. I guess vice grips weren't really needed cause i needed a wrench to swap out a shower head that I bought. I'd recommend adding this to your toolbox arsenal.

I now have 3 of these in ascending sizes
About a year ago I purchased the GV6 version of these two. I was really taken with the GrooveLock aspect as I have arthritis which limits the amount of pressure I can exert with my hands. Once I find the right setting by adjusting the jaws' separation with the lock button in the middle these pliers do not slip or scar the fixture. The handles are very comfortable to hold as well. Great value all the way around.

Superior design for a channel-lock type of pliers
These pliers are terrific. You push a button on the pivot point, and move the jaw into a different groove, where the button locks it in. No way the jaw can slip out to a different groove unless you press the button again. Comes with either straight jaw or vee-jaw for round objects like pipes. Soft plastic coating on handle is a plus.

Bought the smaller plier 1st long time ago(2 years), really liked how it worked on plumbing projects. Let the guy who installed our washing machine use it, he liked it so much said he was stopping @ Lowes and buying one. Skip forward to present, was @ Lowes the other day saw this set/ price was right so I bought the pair/one goes with my RV.

I've bought and used the 11R for thirty years; the only reason I have to buy new ones is when I loose one. But the last one I bought was a real let down - the jaw-opening is less than half what it was on the previous examples of the identical model. Evidently there's subtle variations in the lever ratios, but here I have a tool with very limited use simply because it won't open wide enough to get on the job. I hope that tool wasn't the new standard, but how do I check new tools when Irwin loc...

These groove lock pliers are easy to adjust, and you don't have to settle for one of the preset sizes - the adjustment is smooth and allows a more comfortable grip with maximum control of the pressure on the piece.
