Too dull to drill anything.

The tips on these are pretty well completely dull. They won't make a dent in mild steel. Maybe on copper or aluminum they would work, but I have my doubts. There just isn't any bite to the tip. I have a 4 year old Dewalt step bit that has drilled hundreds of holes until the tip finally broke on it. I picked these up to finish a job and ended up having to drill a pilot hole with a Dewalt bit in order to get these to bite. The other flutes are equally dull, needing much more effort to push the bit...

5/10 Step bit

I bought this set to drill some holes in thin metal. Here is my experience. I first used the #1 bit. I tried to drill without using a center punch. It walked a lot. I used the center punch and nothing changed. The bit would actually walk out of the whole. I ended up having to use an actual drill bit to make a bigger indent so the step bit would not walk. The step bit took longer to drill than a wore about drill bit I've had for the last 5 years. I used the #4 drill bit and it was the same story....

Step drill bit for thick metal!

Needed to drill two 3/4” holes in my tractor loader bucket so I could install my newly purchased tooth bar. The step drill bit seemed the logical choice! I used the #4 DOUBLE FLUTED bit. And just as the package states, it drilled through that metal 2X faster than anything! Same quality as Harbor Freight

I bought this Pack hoping it would do a better job than the harbor freight step bits. To my surprise they performed the exact same. Quite a disappointment for the cost. Save yourself a pretty penny and go to Harbor freight for these.

When bought separate, these are well over 100$, but this combo pack is the best bag for your buck. Sharp bits that grab the metal

I should have bought these years ago

Made drilling through aluminium a breeze. I was just being cheap my whole life and didn't think I needed these. I do with I had something to put them in to keep them from banging about.

If you’re a handyman kind of guy. Buy a set

Use them for many projects. Got in a pinch and burnt up 3 bits but get the steel up.
