What Customers Are Saying
The ceiling fan has a mixed performance, with some positive aspects like its appearance and features, but also significant issues with noise, remote control functionality, lighting, and durability. While the fan may initially seem appealing, many customers report problems with persistent operational noises, poor remote control quality, inadequate lighting, and premature failures within a year of use. The overall consensus is that this model does not reliably deliver on key quality and reliability measures.

I like the air flow, and the 6 fan speeds,. But the remote won’t properly control the light. The light either says on(lit) with the factory setting and won’t dim but it turns on and off with the alternative setting. I could not figure out how to dim the light and turn it on and off with the factory setting. So I will just turn it on or off with the alternative setting. Secondly we discovered the switch for forward and reverse is on the top of the fan motor instead of being on the side like I h...

Oh the humming.
In general, we like harbor freeze fans. I replaced 2 of my fans that had downward facing lamps to this as this has closed cover for the light and doesn't trigger my migraines. But if it isn't the light, it's the sound now. As others have mentioned, the humming wouldn't stop. I like some white noise but this isn't that. I have bought a floor standing one in the mean time. Moreover, the remote stopped working a while ago and it's a hassle that you don't realize until it happens. Basically, you are...

Won't last a single year...
I purchased this fan in July of 2023, and by February 2024 it started to have issues. The first of which was that the two fastest speeds started to actually become slower than the slowest speed setting. Next came the noise... omg the noise. First it was a humming, which sounds to me to be electric motor related. That has just gotten louder and louder. Next came a ticking/tapping sound. I tried to ensure that all write connections and the "guts" of the fan located in the ceiling mount are adequat...
Hi Jeff, Sorry for the incidient. The speed RPM become slower and numming noise may be caused by capacitor degradation or a loose connection in the i...

Humming sound
I bought two of these units in 2023. The unit made a humming and tapping sound after install. I went through support to fix the issue. I was able to minizing the tapping sound but the humming persisted but I figured I could live with it since I don’t use it often (we have central air). I had to write this review a year later to let others know the humming continues and has gotten worse. We have 3 other Harbor Breeze units that aren’t this model and there are no humming. At first I thought...
Hi Jason, Thank you for your comment and sorry for the incident. If all screws were well fastened and the fan was installed properly but the humming ...

Save your money
The fan provides good air but if you want to control the brighness of the light and speed of the fan you HAVE to use the receiver and remote if you can get the huge receiver in such a small space. Our house is an older model house (built pre 1970), and we could not get the receiver in such a small space with the wires. we were trying to do without it, but the fan would turn on and off with the light switch, but the light stayed on at all times, so we rewired how it was connected. At the moment, ...
Hi, Sorry for the incident. The controller ( receiver ) should be able to fit into canopy include its wires.

Junk control, great fan
I am now on the second Berkshire fan that I've installed. The second note on page 15 of the manual says: "This receiver has a preset memory function; when the switch is turned OFF, the control will remember the light intensity and fan speed. When the switch is turned ON, the light and fan will resume operation as they were prior to the switch being turned OFF." Two fans later, this note proves completely false. So, when you go to bed and want to turn the fan on, you blind your partner with the ...
This fan do have memory function with its controller. But cutting off the power from switch will erase the memory from controller. Please use its tra...

Nice looking & quiet but remote is horrible
The fan unit looks good and feels sturdy but the remote is well below the quality of the fan and stopped working within the first 6 months... Contacted the mfg and they (after questions) sent a replacement remote and controller---> so the solution is disassemble the fan blades and drop the cover on the ceiling, remove the old controller (which barely fits), install the new controller, test it, reinstall the cover, reinstall the blades... insane... no programmable code on the remote to match with...

Sorry for the incident, we shall check the root cause of malfunctioning remote and controller.

ridiculous excuse for a ceiling fan
Pros: Looks Nice. cons: Dim light Very weak breeze. Remote for a ceiling fan? What a Stupid idea. Especially for this unit, which is underpowered both for the light and the fan. Constantly pressing the remote button wondering if this is all the breeze/light I can get out of this. Best thing about it (I bought two, and I've had them in my home for more than 2 years now) is now I knowl to A) never buy another Harbor Breeze fan B) never buy another remote control fan.
Sorry for the inconvenience caused. The dim light and weak breeze may be caused by remote controller or receiver malfunction. Please call service num...

Bad Remote
Bought these fan for the entire house because I liked the look of them. Installed them, then the headache began. The remote has a loud beep every time you push a button. I understand, this tells you it has connectivity. I don’t want to hear it, it’s very annoying. Also, when I push the button for the light to go on, it beeps once, the light goes on then off again. This happens to everyone in my family and with every remote (4 total). Why does the remote do this? We can push the button lightly, w...
Sorry for the incident, please try to push and hold the UP botton for 5 sec to turn off the Beep sound. Regards to the light, please check or re-wire...

beeping noise
Fan itself works fine and is quiet. However, every time I push a button on the remote the fan makes a beep noise. I can not figure out how to turn the beeping off and it's a completely unnecessary function.
We are very sorry to hear about your experience and will continue to improve our product.

Thank you for the comment, we will check to work on the fan direction switch. For the light, please hold the light button for dimming the light. ...
