Bought the next new, worked fine for 2 years then decided to stop working. Wont find WiFi networks, shuts off every 3 hours, Nest advised me to buy a new one.
Not a very “smart” thermostat
I’ve had my Nest thermostat for over a year and was SHOCKED to find my energy costs going UP and increased maintenance required on my Lennox Furnace system. I spent so much money on this system because I thought it was “smart,” but honestly it’s got some of the dumbest, unintuitive features and settings. I started paying more attention to why my furnace was working so hard and found out it was short-cycling. Meaning that even though I have my furnace on a schedule, the heat clicks on throughou...
Hi Catt, thanks for sharing your feedback to let us know of your concerns with using the Nest Learning Thermostat, and we’re sorry to hear you’re not...

Used to be good
Owned a Nest thermostat since it first came out in 2012, and it was an excellent thermostat. It stopped functioning start of heating season 2022 and replaced it with current generation. It did not power on, so replaced with another. It lasted 2 weeks before failing so replaced it with a regular programmable. Decided to give it another try in January and never could get the Home/Away to function correctly. Once it detected I was away (I don't use the app to determine if I am present) it woul...
Two failed in less than three years
DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY, DO NOT BUY. As I sit here in my freezing house, I can do nothing more than urge, no beg, you not buy a Nest Learning Thermostat. To date, I have had two of them, the longest one lasting just about two years, and the other only eight months. Despite their expensive price tag, they are repetitively faulty and customer support is abysmal. I received the first as a wedding gift, purchased in late November 2018. By August 2020 the Wi-Fi no longer worked, but as we were in the ...
Hi Jeff, thanks for letting us know of your feedback with the Nest Learning Thermostat, and with our support team. We’re sorry to learn of the issues...

Upgraded from 1st gen - terrible install
I upgraded from a Gen 1 Nest (I was one of the first to buy; spent months on a waiting list before its original release), so I'm a power user. Not that it means much, since Nest has always been very easy to operate, and it has saved us loads of energy use. But our old Nest was no longer maintaining internet connection due to interference with 2.4 ghz (it didn't have 5 ghz compatibility), and since it was several years old, it was time to replace. Replacement should have been super simple, but fo...

Hi Lisa W, thanks for the feedback and we’re glad that you love Nest. It’s unfortunate to hear that your first unit was no longer working properly, a...

I used to love it until I couldn't get a entry key
I've had this for almost 3 years. That's about the time I usually write reviews on things after-the warranty is done...not the day after I install the thing. Take this as a warning, if you get a new phone where you have to set the app all over again and/or the power goes off and it has to re-boot, watch out! You'll probably never be able to get an entry key to get the app. on your phone going again. And thus won't be able to access the Nest thermostat remotely; as in, you won't be able to do the...
Perfect choice, easy install for almost any DIYer!
Our old (vintage) thermostat aggravated us for the last time. It was manually operated unit which means you must actually push buttons to make the temperature you’d like change up and down. We could no longer adjust the temp higher as the button was worn out! We reviewed several new models and really wanted one that could not only be controlled via an app through WiFi, but would be easy to install and wire. After much thought, review, and price checking, we settled on the Nest Learning Thermosta...

Great smarts & remote access, known hardware fault
The backplane to wire the thermostat is great - the circular mount is something everyone should have. The Nest hardware itself is fine. However - both the 2nd Gen and 3rd Gen (this unit) have had issues for nearly ten years with the relays on the backplane. This thermostat was bought to replace the Nest 2nd Gen that I've been using for nearly ten years - its backplane finally gave up and could no longer see 24v on the live wire. I had to RMA this unit because sometimes the heat pump reversal va...

A Review of the Money-Making Machine
I'm about to share a life-changing product with you - the smart thermostat! Now, I know what you're thinking - "a thermostat? That sounds about as exciting as watching paint dry." But trust me, this thing is a game-changer. First of all, it can literally pay for itself if your electric company supports it. That's right, you heard me - it's like having a money-making machine on your wall. I mean, who wouldn't want that? It's like having a friend who's always willing to chip in for pizza - but wi...

Oil heat setup problems and Google Home is a joke.
Installation for my smart learning thermostat was made extremely difficult due to the inconsistencies between set ups for gas and for oil heat. The gas heat option gives more functionality and the thermostat can therefore be configured to start the heat source and the system circulation fan. The option to start the fan with a call for heat is not made available to the user when oil heating source is selected. I spent hours and hours speaking to HVAC professionals, redoing the install/setup proc...
