Defective and impractical

I am an avid smart home user and was excited to use this item as an optional “hub” to control my Google Nest thermostat, Google Nest video doorbell, and a bunch of inexpensive smart devices in my home that I manage through the Google Home app. If this device worked, it would be perfect for my needs as a long time user of smart devices and of Google Home/Google Assistant (even across Android and iPhone devices). Screen goes dark

I have 2 of these the 1st generation which is still working fine and the 2nd generation which started to get a dark or shaded screen then it just got darker and started to blur out the background now you can't see anything. I hadn't even started using this new one until after a year after purchase so it's out of warranty. I loved using the nest hubs just wish both were working .
