defrost system is awful

We bought this fridge in 2020 which I realize is now 6 years old, but during that time span I've had to fix it numerous times. Always the defrost system in the freezer. First the temperature sensor, then it worked great for a year until the heating element went out, and later the thermostat. Every single time I have to move all the stuff into my ugly, decades old garage freezer that can still actually freeze stuff somehow while I work on my awful stupid new freezer. I only wish I lived close...

We got this fridge, and it had a high pitched noise, so we had it replaced after just a couple of days. The second one was very slightly better, but it still has a high pitched noise, most of the time. I think it's the compressor, because it sounds like it comes from the bottom of the fridge. I have to turn off the breaker to give myself a break sometimes. The design of the fridge is good. The noise is not worth it.

Great features!!!

Great side by side refrigerator. It's fantastic that it has a door alarm, so we can be sure that they aren't left open for too long, which happens often in my house. Also, the option of different buttons for ice and water, thus avoiding confusion. And the interior illumination is excellent, you really can see everything inside and looks great.

No delivery on floor models.

Refrigerator was on sale for over a month and a half, with a final price drop, then became unavailable. I waited to long and missed the $1196 sale price. Waited for the floor model to go on sale and finally found one at $849. Excellent GE side by side. I needed a fridge badly, my Whirlpool was 34 years old. My measurements were correct!

Appliance is fine. We like it. On delivery day, 1/5/26, the three-man delivery crew were concerned that the appliance wouldn't fit through the counter area. Also, that the old refrigerator wouldn't come out without damaging the counter. They thought they could get an additional team to lift the appliances, old and new, over the counter area. After consulting with their advisor, we were told that they didn't do that anymore and it would be up to me to get additional people to lift the applia...

Some nice features

It looks pretty and functions nice. I like the look and finish and the price was good. The external ice was a mandatory feature and works well although water temp much lower than old fridge. The major problem is that the refrigerator door isn't designed to open wide enough to open the drawers or get shelves out to adjust. Refrigerator Nightmare

If I could give this refrigerator zero stars, I would have done that. It has been a disaster from the time it was delivered. It was delivered on 07/31/25. Three days after it was hooked up, I opened the refrigerator door and the water filter had exploded...it was frozen.
