Buyer's Remorse

I love GE products and have always had GE ovens and cooktops. I was so excited to replace my old white coil-burner electric cooktop with this smooth-top 5-burner. I've only had this product installed for a few weeks, but my excitement did not last long. Here are the issues with this product: 1. Excellence in a small package

Five burners in a 30" cooktop. Knob settings are hard to read (grey on black) without direct overhead light. Central Knob placement gets in the way of frying pan handles. Shallow depth (about 4") leaves room for a drawer underneath. This replaces our previous GE cooktop which lasted 15 years until a power surge took out its brain. Looking forward to many years of service from this model.

Too Early to Know

My cooktop was only installed yesterday so it's too early to know. I cooked breakfast this morning and I'm having to learn the contol knobs. I couldn't seem to adjust to the temperature I wanted to cook the eggs. I know that it will take time some to learn on the cooktop since it is totally different from my previous cooktop. My previous one was a different brand which didn't have knobs so I need to learn how to adjust to using the knobs again. I'm sure I'll master it soon.

Nice for the price

I purchased a home with a 30 inch electric cooktop that needed to be replaced. It was cost prohibited to have the granite cut to allow for a larger cooktop to be installed. The unit works very well and I chose it for the 5 burners but in reality if you use large pots on the large burners it is difficult to fit small pots in place on the small burners. Very well manufactured cooktop.

First and foremost , this new cooktop was a direct replacement for an original 18 year old GE Profile cooktop and it fit the original granite opening perfectly. The new cook top was plug and play, including the power hookup. The old cooktops control legends were ink printed on the top of the glass. With time and use they had worn away. The new control legends are imbedded below the glass and can never wear away providing a much better cooktop. Hope this cooktop will out last me.

Surface cracked within 2 years

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Great product but unfortunately within 2 years I watched the flattop as began to crack across the burners. All I did was, turn on a burner. Nothing was ever dropped on it. Warrenty didn't last long at all and so I have yet to replace this item

Process Takes 2 months to get a Cooktop

Product is not the problem - the process is horrible with the timing. I have been without a cooktop since thanksgiving and began the process with Lowes at that point and it is after Christmas and have been told the installation will be 2-3 weeks after the product has been delivered to Lowes. First the buying process required the installers to come out and check measurements. 2 weeks. They come and it takes 3-4 days to get the info back to Lowes. Done - I go to Lowes buy the product.
