Great tool and reliable: can't stand w/out battery

Great drill! Feels "zippy". It worked super well to match my Dewalt impact driver and made building a deck super simple. I purchased this drill with a battery deal and it was an absolute steal. I'm a big fan of the light position: it doesn't cause weird shadows like drills with the light next to the trigger. The chuck was very smooth and the tool is generally very compact. The only downside is that if you attach the belt clip, the tool cannot stand up by itself without a battery attached.

Exceptional Drill

Just what I needed. A high torque hammer drill that packs a punch. Just be aware that it does not come with a battery or battery charger. That’s not a problem for me because I already have a smaller Dewalt drill that came with battery and charger. The XR is a little heavier but I expected that.

Terrible Quality/Quality Control! Back 2 Milwaukee

I recently sold my big M12 Milwaukee kit, and my old 18V NiCd DeWalt kit. My idea was to sell both those battery platforms, and buy new tools to replace them under one battery platform. I chose DeWalt 20V as the platform, and chose this DCD805 hammer drill, to start replenishing my tools. Not only Was it a mistake buying this drill, I will be going back to Milwaukee. It is so much smoother and more powerful than my old dewalt

Poor quality

I was surprised that the poor quality of craftsmanship for a Dewalt tool. The direction selector switch is so flimsy it feels like it's about to pop out at any moment. The three selection selector switch for power is flimsy and you have to tap the trigger a few times to get it to a slide into the next speed. The whole thing feels like absolute trash. I have a 10-year-old Chicago Electric that feels like it's 10 times the quality and I paid a quarter of the price. Pass on this model till they mak...

Great Tool from DeWalt DCD805B

This is a great tool from DeWalt, The DCD805B is well built, It has an all metal chuck. It is less likely to be damaged or warn down over time. The chuck can be the first item to break down. My last DeWalt drill had the plastic chuck which did just that. This one is the replacement, and I like it a lot. Thanks again to both DeWalt and Lowe's for offering this tool.

Dewalt hammer drill

I bought this hammer drill about a year age. And it is my workhorse around my home. I do believe though, that I've met its match. About a year ago we were burnt out of our home. Our contrac(Paul Davis Restoration), quit on us. So I've had to do alot of things myself(at 69 yo). They have spent more than $250,000 on our 1800sf home and supposedly ran out of money. And refused to work our basement back to its 70% finished level!
