I've now had 2 of these over the last year thinking it was just a defect. Both of them have the same issues with the motor. When it starts up, it sounds like a damaged motor beginning to spin up. miter detents are metal on metal unlike the other top brands which have plastic parts... solid lock with no play, and the locking plate is adjustable to true up the saw. the bevel has solid stops at 0 and 45 (left) that slide out of the way to provide another 3 degrees in each direction, the markings in between seem accurate. the saw has no soft start, no brake, no LED and no extensions on either side of the table... it's a basic saw but very capable. the table is flat and so is the one-piece...
Defective and DeWalt Won't Help
Defective. The guard bracket screw will not come out to change the blade. It has blue stuff on it that looks like Loctite and the wrench that came with the saw is starting to strip it. I googled this issue and found lots of people on message boards that had the same problem with this saw right out of the box. Yet, DeWalt keeps selling saws with this defect.
