The saw is powerful and makes very nice and accurate cuts. However, the XPS Cutline is only approximate (the kerf is wider than the projected cut line), which is fine for rough carpentry, but useless for finish work (see photos). Furthermore, dust collection is basically non-existent (see photos). Even with a dust collection vacuum, dust gets everywhere — so bad It’s basically not usable indoors. If you feel compelled to buy a Dewalt slider, get the 779. The 780 is not worth the extra $$.

Unit will NOT collapse.

Nice "looking" Stand, Will NOT collapse. Popped up when the ties were cut on the outside of box. Almost hit me in the head. Instructions said not to cut ties. Ties weren't even attached. After reading and following Instructions still won't collapse to put Saw on Stand.

This saw has all the bells and whistles.

Love the shadow blade light for accurate line cuts. It has locking hook when slide not needed. Has a depth gauge setting which is great when wanting shallow cuts. And has automatic stops to choose from when using tilt angle cuts at 22.5 31 and 45 degrees

SAFETY WARNING!!! Hey carpenters - head's up!!!! Saws that are marked with the little green or black dot that are supposed to indicate that the saw has been officially "inspected" and marked as good-to-go by DeWalt's safety experts may STILL have the faulty part installed. As a DYI'er, this miter saw was everything I expected and more. Although it does not have a line laser for cutting, it does have a "shadow" light for precision cuts. Additionally, the saw does come with a 12" 80T blade, you may want to purchase the 100T blade for cleaner cuts, although the 80T cuts good as well to start with general projects. For this price point for a corded miter saw and all its features, this is a must have in your DIY tool collection.

Save don't settle

Worth the extra money cheaper saws I've had but this one is far superior vary accurate which can't be gotten form other saws I've had

Great saw, accurate, XPS light stopped working

I have all other DeWalt tools. I was looking to upgrade my miter saw from a starter Ryobi miter saw with a led shadow Cutline (so the upgrade needed this feature as it's incredibly helpful). I cross researched all brands top of the line miter saws (except festool because I'm not rich). This saw consistently came out on top in my research. I did not like that this saw was purchased fraudulently using my name, email, phone number, and Lowe's online account. And even when I had it re-routed to a FedEx facility so an ID would have to be used to pick it up, FedEx allowed it to be picked up by someone with a different name.

A MUST FOR ANY SHOP OR JOBSITE

The best compound miter saw I've ever used. I use this for home projects and set construction for a high school and a local theatre group. Although this saw would be perfect for any jobsite or shop. This saw is so easy to use and the cuts are so precise, that I have no problem relying on this for the smallest and most precise of projects. Problem With Stand?

I fail to see why so many people are having issues with this miter saw stand. I’ve owned this particular model for several years and it has operated perfectly and securely holds my 65 lb. DW718 without a single problem. For the guy that wonders if DeWalt will address his issue, I assure you they will f you call them.
