DEWALT 12.5-in W 15-Amp Benchtop Planer & Planer Knives

Great thickness planer for this hobbyist.

I bought this planet over 15 years ago. I have been very satisfied with the results that it gives. It has been used it to plane black walnut, red oak, and white oak. I am a homeowner and hobbyist. The original blades are sharp enough to produce great results. The thickness is very repeatable; can hold less than.010 control. Chip vacuuming is done with a 4 inch line dust collector with trouble free results. Long boards do need to be supported to prevent sniping.

Ok tool but quirky

I have had this tool for several years (a gift). For that reason I have learned to live with the quirks. The feed is uneven often leaving snipe marks. The belts brake easily but are very difficult to replace.

Poor experience

I was choosing between Craftsman and this Dewalt unit for my DIY garage workshop. Initially i was inclinied toward Craftsman due to cheaper price. I purchased this planer to replace a delta 22-560 that my grandfather left me. The delta finally destroyed itself and I couldn't find replacement parts so I had to replace it. Shop Vacs Are NOT enough!

Okay, I did a lot of watching Youtube videos and reading reviews so I went ahead and purchased one. Try as I may I couldn't get the snipe under control plus cranking down the head there was some clicking and thumping as it went down with some drops along the way. Very Good Little WorkHorse For The Buck

Well it certainly lives up to the DeWalt name. I have tried it on three separate pieces of wood that I plan on using for a project and the planet did exactly as expected. It took a little to get used I won’t say it didn’t. But once I got the hang of it there was no stopping me. I’m a DIY guy and not a professional wood worker. This planer suits my needs perfectly. I did get two, the first had a bad part. Probably a bearing. Lowes was great, switched it out with another.
