Known defect

I purchased this as part of a 7 tool set. Within hours of using it, the reverse switch intermittently stopped working. Frustration set in quickly when the torque from the drill sank the screw deeper into a board vs taking it out. Called Dewalt, sent a new drill immediately. Great customer service, right? WRONG! Same issue with the replacement except this time they made me send the drill to a service center. So now less than 3 months in, I have NO OPERATIONAL DRILL! I have to wait the 2-4 week...

Efficient and effective.

Versatility with interchangeable batteries. Worked great.

Round one not good for corners.

I use it to sand down old outdoor furniture. Light weight easy to start and stop. Changing sandpaper circles is so great!

From quiet to loud in a week.

I purchased a second one of these as the first one had become very loud after 6 months. The new one was so quiet. After a week it has got louder, now I'm back to square one. Both sanders perform well but when you lift either of the sanders off the work piece they give off a high pitch sound.

Good tool

Well designed, quiet, and the dust collection port actually collects dust! I like the fact that I don’t see swirl scratches in the wood. Haven’t ruined the battery usage yet.

Not Dewalt Quality

Purchased May 2024, so have had it 4 months. The toggle switch between forward and reverse gets hung up and doesn't switch smoothly. I prefer my impact driver and only used this drill for things that wouldn't fit the impact, so it hasn't gotten used a ton. I noticed the hangup a couple of weeks after I bought it, but it got progressively worse and now I may have to try the switch 4-5 times before it moves over. I'm not even sure it stays "in gear" where I think it is some of the time. It's past...

Does Not Withstand Heavy Use:

I purchased the Bare Tool version from Lowe's while installing 1,200 sq feet of vinyl flooring. Used the Sander extensively on Sub-Floor preparation. The unit failed (would not Orbit) about 30 days after purchase. To Lowe's credit they replaced the unit no questions asked. Now about a year later and the second unit has Failed (unit orbits but does not rotate). Drive belt is in tact but drive pulley does not turn. Basically I got a lot of heavy use out of 2 units for the price of 1. Otherwise ...

Easy to use and versatile

Great size - sturdy but not too heavy or bulky to handle. Made a deck refinishing project a lot easier, and will work well for waxing cards with polishing pads, too.
