It's just ok

Tool set has most things you need but you will find some handy tools/sizes missing. Bought this to work on my motorcycle in a pinch. I recently moved and shared tools with my dad and my brother. I have multiple Versastack components and have been awaiting Craftsman to expand the Versastack line. I recently saw this 216 piece tool set and was enthusiastic to purchase and add this to my stack. Great set, just a few design complaints

Overall, this ratchet set is perhaps one of the best ones you can currently buy new without breaking the bank. Socket sizes are stamped instead of laser etched (heck yeah!), ratchets feel great in the hand, and is overall a pretty complete kit with no silly extras you'll never use. Personally, I would have liked to see the inclusion of allen-key sockets instead of the basic keys they included (which are extra long, which is nice). Conflicted

My father is a Craftsman guy, naturally I am too. The tools are great as to be expected. Also, the set is well diverse and not a bunch of filler. I give it the low score because the case and versa system is junk. Cheap plastic tabs to open the drawers, which will eventually break, is not well designed. Also, I purchased CMST17830, which is a 17" "compatible" box to hold miscellaneous tools. It would make sense to connect the box on top of the mechanic tool set because the lid opens from the top....

Craftsman dropped the ball on this one

I'm a mechanic and do a lot of mobile work. A little while back I got some of the craftsman versastack boxes to house some tools. Using foam inserts i made socket organizers in their versastak 2 drawer box-it works. Great tool set but the box has some issues

Note: would give 3.5 stars if it were possible at $150 price point. If the price drops, would increase up to 4 stars. The tools themselves are quality and I have no complaints there. I've been looking for a 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive mechanic's set for some time. Kobalt's 227 piece set had my eye, but their case is horrible.
