Disappointed given the ratings

Maybe I just have a defective tool, but have two problems that make this tape really hard to use. First there is a slight curve up to the tape at the hook end. You don't notice it standing in the store, but definitely do when trying to measure a board to length. Related, the hook itself needs more friction points to help it stay hooked. It's really hard to keep the end hooked on the board so that you can make your measurement. Second, it's hard to grab the tape hook and pull it out when wearin...

Make sure you get the one that is Made in America

The Craftsman Made in America measuring tape is a really great tape. I use the 16' for plumbing rough in and cabinet layout and that is usually all the tape I need. Light weight, easy to read, feels comfortable in my hand.

I've been a fatmax guy my whole career, and this is the only tape I have ever found to be legitimately comparable. The one I have is 16ft with yellow tape. It's practically identical to the fatmax tape in every way. The craftsman shell has a flatter bottom & a little flat stop on the back for taking accurate inside corner measurements. Poor Construction, Broke under Light Usage

I bought two of these about a year ago. Since then, I have built a couple of buildings, but mostly I am NOT using them. I picked one up the other day and at the 12' mark, I noticed that the metal was starting to shred, inexplicably. With one or two more measures, it had snapped completely. It's not longer easy to replace these at box stores. The quality of Craftsman seems to have dropped and so has their warranty. I am going to try other brands for a while.

Wrong Tool

The tape measure pictured does not match what the store actually supplies. This tape measure is no longer Made in the USA, and the tape itself is no longer white, it's a regular yellow tape now. Dojt order this by mistake

Good tape

Replaced an old tape with this new one. Seems high quality and worked well.

Good tape for beginner or an experienced user.

I purchased this to be included in my grandson's first tool box. At 25' it is longer than he will need for many years. This tape has a smooth movement and recoils nicely.

You Always Need A Tape

We could never find a tape when we needed one, but my husband's decided this is to be put in his drawer " so he'll always be able to find it". Least he got a Craftsman!

Huge Disappointment

I bought this on a two for one special because I noticed it was made in the USA and thought it would be nice to have spares. I let a few people know of the sale. This tape measure has spent 99% of its life in a drawer in the shop. I’ve probably used it a dozen times and it has already failed. It retracts to the last 3 feet.
