Reviewers highlight its ability to slice through thick walnut, plywood, shingles, and granite with precision and ease, with many noting perfectly straight cuts and no blade wandering. The quick-change blade system is frequently called a game-changer, eliminating frustration with tool fumbling. Users emphasize the balanced weight, comfortable grip, and fatigue-free extended use. Build quality is described as rugged and solid, with several owners reporting 20-plus years of reliable daily use. A few mention minor preferences around dust management or lighting, but these rarely diminish overall satisfaction. Most consider it a lasting investment.

Bought one of these for doing scroll work on 2x6 and 2x8 lumber. It does a great job, cuts quickly, doesn't get hot and never bogs down. The variable speed trigger combined with the speed limiter dial worked very well for controlling speed. It makes it very easy to set the speed appropriate for the work being done. The plastic overshoe keeps the saw from scratching wood, but once in a while would catch on the edge of board when starting out. Once it is sliding it works really well. The grips ...
Good but not great
Owned this saw, well it and a replacement, for about 2 years. The first saw wouldn’t turn on after using it about a dozen times. I had it for more than 30 days so my local Lowe’s told me to go pound sand (IMO Lowe’s here has very poor management). I contacted Bosch and got a hold of the first line of defense who was no help. Finally got to a tech who told me this was a common problem with the new safety switch and the cost to fix it would be $90 per hour plus $40 shipping. I would have to pay ...

probably the best jigsaw on the market
As of 2014, I think you'll find this is the most saw for the dollar spent. It has lots of power and the variable speed control is at the rear of the motor body. The circuitry gives you the feeling of full power without full speed. The trigger which is nice and fat, gives you a soft start, which is very helpful. There is a model above this one which offers a higher amp motor, but I don't think you need it. This unit is plenty powerful. It is also quite smooth running for a jigsaw. I looked a the ...

sturdy
I purchased the 470E, having difficulty comparing this to the 572EL, the top line model costing about $ 100 more. Both have about the same power & weight & cutting features. My 470E came with 1 wood blade, a plastic case, a no mar plastic footplate, which snaps on & an anti splinter insert. The insert was impossible to get on as the instructions were awful. Possibly mine was defective, although there were no broken edges. The insert only works with certain special blades, so this potentially val...
RUGGED, HEFTY, RELIABLE
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I purchased the Bosch JS470E about 5 years ago because a friend convinced me it was the best jigsaw on the market. And I agree! It is strong and at 7 amps, it never bogs down. I look for ruggedness and reliability in the power tools I buy, and this jigsaw has never let me down. Easy to change the blades, and to tilt the angle of the table bed. Definitely recommend!

Exceeds My Expectations
I debated between this and a cordless Makita since I have the battery kit and two tools I think are great. However I opted for the corded Bosch after reading a lot of reviews and realizing unlike my cordless drill and impact driver I always be using my Jig Saw close to an outlet. Once it arrived I was pleased with the extra long flexible cord and after trying some cuts found this to be an absolutely great tool. Easy to use and smooth. Doesn't deviate from the line your following. Some people com...

I'm a believer
For years I have "gotten by" with cheaper, inferior jig saws that lacked power and would bog down when cutting metal and thick wood. With an upcoming boat refurb project soon to begin, I knew I needed a saw that could handle not only the materials I would be cutting, but the sheer amount as well. Wow, was I blown away with this jig saw! First time I used it was cutting a piece of 0.125 aluminum, something that I used to have to go slow with so my old jig saws didn't bog down. When I fired up...

THE JIGSAW
This is hands down the most reliable, accurate jigsaw made. I have been using Bosch Jigsaws professionally since 1993. I have never had a saw break or fail. I upgrade periodically just to keep saws available to my crew.

T-shank blade format an unwelcome surprise
The requirement for T-shank blades is a VERY unwelcome--and expensive--surprise. I only use my saw intermittently, but was very happy until the blade that came with it wore out. Now I find out that my lifetime supply of universal jigsaw blades is so much scrap metal. This sort of format change needs to be marked very clearly on the box that the product comes in, with a warning that it will not accept universal shank blades. #FAIL.

Love/Hate
I've used the Bosch jigsaws for 35 years. I do believe they are the best, as I've cut miles of wood, steel and aluminum. I've probably owned 5-6 variations of this model, and have always found them to be fantastic and well worth the money. But...the one I've had for a year or so has to be the worst ever, or maybe I got a "lemon". I've cursed it every time I go to change a blade. This new blade change system ejects perfectly, but when installing a new blade, it will NOT seat properly and will imm...
