We purchased this as a cover material for popcorn ceiling. We had high hopes and as I installed it, I found it to be a little difficult until I got to the end of the first box and realized that there was a box of clips that I had not used! Looks Great - but installation can be involved.

Probably this wasn't the best job for two ADHD individuals. We took it down twice before we got it straight and running as we wanted. You'll need to find your truest wall and start from there. Since I was covering ceiling in two rooms - one smooth finish, the other with popcorn, we put in 1/4 plywood strips along the joists and used those as a our clip bases. This is a 10 x 21 room with planks running lengthways - each plank is 7 ft, so accounting for a stagger we had a bit of wastage. We didn't...

If ALL product unpacked as undamaged, would have no complaint. First 5 boxes received / packed a box in a box. VERY little damaged pieces. Second 5 boxes received only packaged in a single box. Allowing for shipping damage. Nicked corners, compressed joints from handling. Understand heavy item, but either consideration handling or mandate a box in a box to avoid damage. Roughly 10% of product required "special attention" to salvage it.

Beautiful results, easy installation

I am probably above average in abilities for this type of work, as I literally built my house from the ground up, so I may be a bit biased in my view of ease of installation. That being said, I still believe that anyone that knows how to saw wood could install this product and achieve great results. The planks are tongue and groove on all 4 sides, so it all fits without any issues. The planks are about 3/8 thick, and substantial enough to be handled without breaking. Easy up?Maybe.

Having never done a job like this I was attracted to the easy aspect. Directions were clear enough, just not detailed for my existing ceiling of plaster and lath. Layout was simple to do with a chalk line to establish rafters and track locations. I first found the lowest spot on the ceiling and worked away from that point. A good product and system

Once my contractor became familiar with the system, he said it was a breeze to install. I LOVE the effect and the look of having shiplap planks on my ceiling instead of the 40 year old popcorn which was dirty and gray. It feels clean and simple! A whole different feel. I got the white, and fyi, it is very white. I had my walls painted also and I was afraid the white paint color I chose wouldn’t work well- ie, the paint being not quite as white, which would be quite noticeable—but it’s perfect! ...

Exactly what we needed in our kitchen

Old popcorn ceiling would fall down anytime we cooked in the kitchen, but we didn’t want to deal with the mess of taking it all down and trying to smooth the ceiling. This has worked perfectly! Using the rails helped even out the ceiling, which was a little warped (older house). Still in the process of adding trim, but it looks amazing. Love it!!!

Anything but easy up

If you choose this product, skip the easy-up track and clips. They are crap and a perfect example of a marketing department trying to cover up the product's main flaw. The tracks are flimsy and difficult to get installed without twisting. The clips then get in the way of the tongue and groove. It would be easier to just staple the product directly to a furring strip. But the product is too cheep to be held by staples. It would likely just pull right through and fall under its own weight. ...
