We had our first one for only 3 years and it took a crap, AO smith did warranty it so that was nice, Lowe’s was great handed us a gift card and we went and got the same one. Well here we are one year later and the heating element went out, save your money and go with a more name brand hot water heater these ones are junk

I contacted AO Smith customer support, and they provided a PDF guide along with step-by-step instructions on what to inspect and what tests to perform using a multimeter. I bought this tank thinking that it would work, being that it is brand new. I have had problems with this tank every since it was installed. I am now on my third professional person coming out to check this water tank. Every person that has touched this tank has gotten hot water one day after and nothing more.

I purchased this product which was defective out of the box and was refused the ability to return/exchange it. I ended up paying out of pocket for the repairs made, totally unacceptable customer service from AO Smith. We purchased the heater in December, and the thermostats were bad. I offered to exchange it in store and AO Smith said I couldnt, that it had to be repaired. PRV leaked water all over when filling, never would seat. I can blow through it. I used old one to get by. The threaded insert for the PRV is installed at an angle in, thus the old overflow tube hits the unit. Had to go to Pex for a work around on that. Called Tech Support, after 20 minutes I left my number, Caleb returned the call I missed. Didn’t leave a callback or extension, I called back and went right back where I started. Unable to remove the sacrificial anode

I was unable to remove the sacrificial anode, it was impossible to loosen. I even tried Impact wrenches. It would not come out. I callerd O.A. Smith and they said the water softwner was insured for 6 years. I said I wanted the ability to remove the anode on my unit, they said they would not loosen it nor replace the water heater. Thee anode usually lasts for 2-3 years at my location. DONT BUY THIS UNIT AS THE MANUFACTURER WILL NOT HONOR THEIR UNIT..
