One of the parts broke after maybe 6 months of purchase… now less than a year later it’s down again, the first time the tech came out he told me it’s due to CA regulations they had to change the material or design on a part that’s what’s causing it to be so unreliable… AO smith would ship out the part… but now it doesn’t include labor… would not recommend this heater

Reliable
I needed a new hot water tank and the AO smith seems to be the best. My only disappointment was that it came right out of the box with a big dent on the bottom.

AO Smith packed it dented
Received the water heater through Lowes delivery. The delivery guys were great, handled it with great care and took it all the way to the basement. However after opening I noticed a dent on the top of the water heater. There is 0 damage to the box. No indication whatsoever that the box had fallen or anything. There’s not even a crease on the box on the side the dent is. I’m pretty sure whoever manufactures these just sends all the defected / damaged ones to Lowes to sell to residential consumers...

Poor service at service desk!
Bought this for pickup at store, sales helped load. When I unpacked, I found forklift damage at the bottom of tank. I went to service desk to make arrangements due to being handicapped.
