The “20” gauge steel stud is not 20 gauge

I purchased this ProStud 20 gauge steel stud for a partition wall in a large storage room. When the City Building Inspector came for a PreConstruction meeting he said the ProStud track and studs we purchased are not actually 20 gauge and would not be approved for use in a fireproof wall. I measured them and he is right, they measure as 25 gauge, significantly thinner. The manufacturer’s hard to read printing on each stud and piece of track says “(20EQ)”. These measure .019" thick. 20 gauge is .036".

Order filled with other people's returns. Not new.

Order was filled with other people's returns. With dents, bends and paint on the loose items. Not bundled for easy handling. But they charge you as if the things are new.

Good building materials

Very good product and fairly easy to work with. It’s a bit expensive, but straighter than big box twisted lumber. Used in an outdoor kitchen where combustible material is not recommended

Way better option than using wood lumber. Easy to work with.

Strong product should last a lifetime. Able to hand cut with hand held snips
